Jonathan Bixby is an accomplished dancer, choreographer, and teacher based in Santa Barbara since 1979. His passion for dance began long before that. As a regular for several years on Dick Clark's American Bandstand, he gained experience in a number of partner dances and a love for performing. As an adult, he learned from a number of nationally recognized "street" dancers including Frankie Manning (Lindy Hop), Dean Collins (Swing), and Maxi Dorf (Balboa), and became an internationally recognized teacher tirelessly working to preserve several dance forms which were headed towards extinction. His efforts to this end have been rewarded by many accolades including induction in the Swing Dance Hall of Fame. Besides teaching, Jonathan also promotes partner dancing with several monthly dances at the Carrillo Ballroom in Santa Barbara.

| As a teacher, Jonathan is known for a relaxed style which emphasizes simplicity and joy verses rigid technique and complicated patterns. He has taught hundreds of couples and wedding parties preparing for their special day. For the most part, he believes in keeping that first dance simple, easy and fun. |
